The Great Egret, also known as Great White Egret, Common Egret, Large Egret or Great White Heron. Oh wait, this isn’t national geographic, let’s try this again.
The Egret, an extraordinary cocktail made with NOLET’S Silver Dry Gin now coming to you from Brickell’s Blackbird Ordinary. Much Better.
…
I’ve never been much beyond Tequila for a straight up cocktail. This is mainly a result of the gag reflex that instinctively protrudes from my esophagus when I smell and taste vodka. And because I am a petty fool, I grouped every other spirit into the Clear Club. No bueno por BrickGals unless mixed with some fruity juice or spritzy soda.
That is, up until last week, when a new-found-friend hooked me up with a NOLET’S Silver Dry Gin straight up, Paula Abdul-style. Chilled of course, and with a lemon twist, it was like seeing baby Jesus for the first time. Heavenly. Cool and crisp, I was no longer greeted by the “Sick.”
After one, two, buckle my shoe, three – OK I stopped the straight up gins after my third (or did I?), I asked the bartender to make me a little something-something that featured this special NOLET secret sauce without covering up the intricacies of the beverage. And thus the Egret was born… ok not really it was already on the menu but it was born to me… So now I passeth on to you my friends. Drink On. Happy Thanksgiving.

When we hear “Facebook Contest”, we here at BrickGals normally cringe. While it’s probably because we never win anything and are overly negatively jaded on the whole contest/raffle/auction shebang, when we heard about the Conrad Miami’s “Business Chic” Facebook Photo Contest a warm, fuzzy feeling took over. I’m tempted not to tell you about the contest because then I have a greater chance of winning a party for 25 peeps at the hotel’s Lvl 25, hors d’ouerves and open bar included. But, alas, BrickGals wants you to consider us your friend so here are the deets: snap a pic of your best biz style and submit to miamiinfo@conradhotels.com by November 16th. They’ll send you back a link to view your photo on the Conrad Miami facebook page that you can share with all your friends. The person whose pic has the most likes by November 19th, WINS! Only a couple people have entered already so send in your pic and start tallying up those likes ASAP!
More info on the contest can be found at http://www.facebook.com/ConradMiami/app_166564200066630.
BrickGals went to the first annual Cooking Up Dreams event last year and let me tell you, AMAZING. Not only were the drinks free (bonus for BrickGals), the food was fantastic. Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho and Julie Grimes will once again be hosting Cooking Up Dreams on November 1st 2012, 7:30 to 10:30pm at The DoubleTree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay. Celebrity chef Douglas Rodriguez & 14 other top chefs will be creating gourmet tastings to help raise money for The Foundation of New Education Initiatives. This organization supports innovative programs for students in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Tickets are $75.
I don’t remember when Four Seasons Miami started to get all young and cool and hip on us but I’m pretty sure it was about a year ago when they refurbished their dining options and launched Edge Steak & Bar. Good job FS Miami, I heart you for it. Another thing I heart you for is the Veuve Clicquot Yelloween Party going on this Saturday night. It sounds like a blizast so check it out Brickellites and make sure to report back to Mama BrickGal!
Check out my girl Nicole’s Facebook page on the event for more information and reservations - http://www.facebook.com/events/462375490479210/.
